On 6 February, Yury Borisov, Deputy Minister of Defence, visited Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex during his business trip to Primorsky Krai.
The visit of the Deputy Minister took place under the verification of fulfilment of Defense Procurement and Acquisition by Primorsky Krai enterprises. Prior to Bolshoy Kamen, Yury Borisov has inspected Progress Arsenyev Aviation Company, programme of visit in Bolshoy Kamen included Zvezda Far Eastern Shipyard and Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex. At SSC Deputy Minister of Defense has got acquainted with Hull Production Shop capacities, in particular with the operation of the welding equipment- Micropanel line and One-side butt welding gantry, assessed quality of the finalized sections of multifunctional supply vessels and “Slipway FES” order.
Yury Borisov noted that the advanced production created at the yard would allow to process up to 35000 tons of steel per year.
“This indicator is very important, the quality is unique due to the advanced technologies implementation,” Yury Ivanovich said. After that Deputy Minister of Defence visited Zvezda Far Eastern Shipyard covered slipway with nuclear submarines being modernized there. Navy Pacific fleet will receive one of them, K-186 project “Omsk” submarine, already this year. Modernization of four 949А project cruise-missile-carrying nuclear submarines will have been finalized by 2021.
According to Borisov, in the nearest future yard will do repair and modernization of 955 project submarines.
“The Ministry of Defence is seriously considering the opportunity of the yard additional loading, including orders for the auxiliary fleet vessels,” Deputy Minister told.
“This is a leading enterprise in the sphere of shipbuilding and ship repair for the Navy Pacific fleet. We have discussed plans for the nearest future. It should be noted that the situation has stabilized since the yard came under Rosneft control,” Yury Borisov noted.
